1865–1898
Railroads, factories, and finance remade America into an industrial giant almost overnight. Waves of immigrants filled booming cities, farmers and workers organized against corporate power, and a new political order emerged to grapple with the gap between Gilded Age wealth and Gilded Age poverty.
